…our politicians have been effectively controlled by the food and drug companies for so long that our government is now a large part of the problem rather than poised to be a part of a solution. – Paul Zane Pilzer
Paul Zane Pilzer is a world-renowned economist, social entrepreneur, and author with more than 11 books to his name, including Unlimited Wealth, God Wants You To Be Rich, The Next Trillion, and others.
The quote above comes from The Next Trillion, a book about the growing wellness industry.
Originally published in 2001, the book explores the connection between food and drug companies, which seem to be more interested in keeping people alive and sick, than in keeping people alive and well.
Pilzer then goes on to describe why the wellness industry was about to explode, and we have certainly seen it proliferate in the last 15 years or so.
And while Pilzer is largely talking about the US, it’s not hard to see how the myths and lies of the food and drug industries have also affected people in other countries.
We are talking about trillion-dollar industries. This is what makes it hard for the truth to surface. Even those who might be inclined to speak out about it can be silenced or bought out by big corporations.
If Pilzer’s assessment is right, then what is the truth? Is exercise good for us? Are dairy products harmful to our bodies? Are meats largely unhealthy and unneeded? Is it the other way around?
Or, are we so far from the truth that we can’t even see it anymore?
