Savants are a remarkable mystery in the world of Neuroscience. They are generally autistic, and they usually have an IQ rating that doesn’t exceed 25.
They often have a limited ability to read or write, and many of them are institutionalized because of their inability to properly socialize with other people.
But they are being rigorously studied because of their special, even superhuman abilities that seem to emerge from some unknown dimension of their functionally inferior neuro life.
Neurocardiology is a new clinical science. It’s primarily about unpacking and understanding the complicated relationship between our brain, our nervous system, and our heart.
Traditional cardiology treated the heart as a pump. However, as the pace of research intensified in the separate field of neuroscience, a more detailed mapping of the brain-body network established that neuroscience and cardiology could no longer be separate.
